Entrance requirements:

  1. Submit a formal application for admission.
  2. Submit two official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
  3. No GRE is required for non-thesis students.
  4. Submit a letter stating professional goals.
  5. Submit TOEFL scores and financial resource certification forms must be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies (international students only).

Degree requirements:
Students must maintain a 3.0 G.P.A. (B) in all courses counting toward the Master degree, and no more than 2 C's may be earned.

Time requirements:
The work for the Masters Degree must be completed within 10 consecutive years. course work over 10 years old at the completion of the degree may not be used.

Tuition and Fees:
In-State Tuition (2004 - 2005):
Graduates - For Nebraska students, tuition for a graduate off-campus course is $144.25 per credit hour, plus fees of $28 per credit hour and a materials fee of $20 per course.

Out-of-State Tuition for Distance Students (2004 - 2005):
Graduates - For out-of-state students, tuition for a graduate distance course is $225.00 per credit hour, plus fees of $28 per credit hour and a materials fee of $20 per course.

Transfer of credit:

At least half of the coursework for the Masters Degree (18 credit hours) must be completed at UNK. For graduate credits from another fully accredited institution to be accepted in the Masters Degree program, the Department of Biology must approve the quality and suitability as equal to or superior to the offerings available at UNK. Approval of the Office of Graduate Studies and Research is also required for the transfer of graduate work taken elsewhere, and copies of official transcripts must be sent to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.

Time to degree:
A total of 36 credit hours must be completed. The usual time to complete these hours is two and a half to three years.
