Introduction and BackgroundThe Department of Biology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney now offers a full curriculum distance M.S. degree in Biology. This program was developed for students who cannot participate in an on-campus degree program. This is especially helpful for people who have careers in which advanced education in biology is desirable, or for people seeking such a career. Our program is growing and diversified with an energetic faculty who are willing to explore a wide variety of research interests. For example, faculty efforts have recently generated approximately a half million dollars in external funding which have led to numerous peer- reviewed publications. With a $6.5 million dollar renovation to the Bruner Hall of Science, a newly outfitted computer lab, smart classrooms, and the latest scientific technology , including fluorescence microscopes, a scintillation counter, photosynthesis and digital imaging equipment, and a DNA sequencer, the Department of Biology at UNK is better suited than ever to offer students advanced educational and professional opportunities. |
"I am excited at the prospect of completing UNK's online Master's Degree in Biology, not only because of the knowledge I will gain, but also because of what a Master's Degree will allow me to achieve in my professional career". Shane Winder, QC Scientist, Schering-Plough Animal Health, Omaha , NE |
