4: Send letter of intent

Mail your Letter of Intent to:

Include the answers to these questions in your Letter of Intent:

  1. Explain why you want to pursue a Masters degree in Biology.
  2. Why do you want a M.S. degree in Biology?
  3. How is it going to help you?
  4. What are you doing now that relates to this degree?
  5. What do you want to gain from this degree both personally and professionally?
  6. What are you personal and career goals?
  7. Explain why a distance program is the right choice for you.

Get your application in early!

After your application is complete, it will be forwarded to the Department of Biology's Graduate Committee for review. The review process typically takes 2-3 months. After a decision is made, the Office of Graduate Studies and Research has to do the final paperwork. This process can take another 1-2 weeks. Therefore, the sooner you can get your application in the better!

Application deadlines

All application materials for the distance M.S. in Biology degree program must in the Department of Biology for review by the following dates:

Beginning Semester Application Due Date

With the Distance Masters Degree, there are no application deadlines. You may enroll and complete up to 6 hours of classes before being formally accepted into the program. Decisions usually take about 2 months from receipt of complete applications.
