Problems with
exotic earthworms have only recently been noted, so there are few
control options.
There are
restrictions
on the import of earthworms to Canada.
A solution of crushed mustard seed and water can be used to irritate
earthworms, causing them to leave their burrows.
Biological control is being developed using the New Zealand flat
worm (Artioposthia triangulata). This planarian has controlled
earthworm populations in Scotland and Ireland.
