Normally, isopods do not need to be controlled because they cause little economic damage. When numbers justify control, many types of insecticide are effective.

When isopods enter homes, they can be removed by hand or by vacuuming. Household infestations usually result from high populations near the home, so removal of hiding spaces that hold moisture can be effective.

In the garden, old boards and excess mulch should be removed. Commercially available baits are also available to control isopods prior to planting.
