(Nightshade family)

Origin: Native
Life Span: Annual
Found: Throughout Nebraska in all types of soil. Common in corrals, feedlots, overgrazed pastures, roadsides, and waste areas.
Importance: Buffalobur serves as a host for the Colorado potato beetle. The plant contains poisonous alkaloids and its stiff spines can cause mechanical injury.
