Field bindweed is a perennial weed that forms extensive roots.

The plant has long (up to 2 meters), thin stems that form tangled mats as they climb over other plants.

The leaves are alternate and shaped like an arrowhead. They are light green when young, but become more bluish as they mature.

Bindweed flowers are bell-shaped and white to pinkish in color. The plants flower from June until the first frost.

The bindweed fruit consists of a small, round capsule that usually contains four seeds.
